Casa Somerset...the progress continues
Fall has arrived, and the progress continues. This weekend, I (Christine) am moving into my kitchen. I am finally selling my house in Overland Park and moving the last of my things into Casa Somerset. Mike's daughter, Veronica, is coming over today to help me.
A few weeks back, we had a party (when the weather was still warm in the evening) and Michael, Jeff, and Phil helped us. What would we do without family and good friends? Phil did the work of 3 people! Michael and his wife Stefanie made quesadillas, and Jeff managed all the rest of the food. Our good friend, Hilary Cooley, also came out and helped. They were all amazing! We could not have done it without them!
We put out a lot of grass seed in the past couple of months, and some of it is even growing where we put it! The large amount of rain we received was beneficial to the seed germination, but it did cause some "rearrangement" of the seed! There is a lot more growing at the bottom of the front slope than we wanted! :-) Ah, well, gardeners are always hopeful and enthusiastic!
Speaking of gardening, Mike is going to classes to become a Master Gardener. Once a week he drives to Olathe to take classes at the K-State offices there. He promised the master gardeners at Ursuline that he would as soon as he retired. Now he thinks he knows Everything about gardening......

I am still working at JCPenney and am adjusting to the commute. Each morning I am surprised at how fast everyone drives. Most of us "fudge" and go a few mph over the limit, but this is a good 10-15 or more over! I see car tags from counties that I have no idea where they started that morning. I do know that one of my co-workers drives from Nevada, Missouri. So, I guess if you don't "put the pedal down" you'll never get there! I keep telling myself it is worth it to live here, and that I shouldn't complain about the commute. It is just hard to get up at 5am and be happy about it!!!
Happy Fall Everyone!
