Winter Storm at Casa Somerset.
You remember a couple weeks ago we got a late winter shock. Well Christine decide to come down to Casa Somerset. We stayed at the guest house. It was storming and she wanted pictures in April of the snow storm. Guess who she elected to take them ???? This is a democracy??
With my northern up bringing, it was off to see the house and what it is going to be like in the winter snows. I went all over to take pictures. The snow was blowing and the flakes were beautiful, so large. Christine said when I came back inside, how big the flakes were and how she enjoyed looking out the window seeing them. Honey, I knew all about it.... I was the one out there!!!!! Well, I love Christine, and can't wait for us to have a fire in the fireplace, a glass of Casa Somerset Cabernet, and enjoy each other's company in our new Italian Villa. Casa Somerset
The house is coming along, just too slow for us. The stucco is on and will probably be painted this week weather permiting.
Christine and I did agree today on color, my arm is still in a sling so you can just imagine why...... :-) We both want it to look like old European, old Italy, an Italian villa. Our stuccoing contractor is going to "help" the aging process along. He will add some instant age! Kevin is an artist!
We are hoping that we get an inspection by the end of the week. The plumber told me Sunday that he would be done this week.
The insulation should be installed, then the drywall. I am so-o-o-o-o ready to move in. I know at the beginning that I thought we would be in by January 1st. Christine says June. Hope she is not right this time. :-) (Christine has built a house before. She has a little more insight!)
I am looking forward to having friends over this Spring and Summer. We will be planting more vines this Spring. It will help to create the "look" of Italy, and also give us more wine. We have really gotten excited about having our own grapes and wine. Dennis and Cindy Reynolds are the best! Be sure to stop by their winery. Blake and Grant.
Blake has been one of my best friends for so long. His brother Grant is the football star. They are the Grandsons of Elsie Penn. She brags about them so much. I am telling you, when you are around these two very polite young men you really appreciate them. They will be the leaders of our future. Especially when they learn how to speak Spanish. They came out to the house to visit yesterday. Grant couldn't believe that my son Josh hit golf balls off of the roof..
So much is happening at the Italian Villa. It is worth the drive. Christine and I are there most Wednesdays and Sundays. Come by for a tour and to visit. 16315 West 287th st. Paola, it really should be Somerset, Kansas, however. Somerset used to be a town with a Post Office until the '70s. It is all here in Somerset. We're on the Second floor!!!!
Third floor loft here we come. I am so excited. They framed in the second floor. I walked it off myself ,trying to figure out where everything was going to be and how it was going to fit. I can see I will have to get my stuff in first, Christine will be pushing on me. :-) I was trying to figure out the Kitchen, a very important room for me to prepare food for all of my friends. I will have to learn new recipes. I will call Jasper! I can see our friends coming over early, and all of us cooking with Love for more friends coming for dinner. Then later, all of us sitting on the porch enjoying each other's company, watching the sun set. The house faces the west. Mike The porch is coming ,soon!!!
